It has been well documented that if people are treated fairly and without prejudice then they will have a far greater chance of making social and economic progress. History has shown what happens when the power and opportunities are concentrated into the hands of too few. To this end, monitoring the value the community places on 'opportunity for all' and how well they believe their local area delivers in that regard is an important metric to informing our understanding of how well we are progressing as a society.

14% of residents selected ‘Opportunity for all’ as an important attribute when considering what makes somewhere a good place to live, making it the 13th most important liveability aspect for Sunshine Coast residents overall. Residents rated their experience of ‘Opportunity for all’ in their local area 6.0 out of 10, on average, making it the 10th most positively experienced attribute of 16. In comparison to Australia: 2023, residents of Sunshine Coast placed less importance on Opportunity for all and reported worse local area experiences.
